Cranbourne Gardens

Hi everyone,

As part of our history unit, we are looking into Indigenous Culture. To help with our research, we went to Cranbourne Gardens.

I was so excited because it was my first excursion in about 2 years.

Our tour guide’s name was Steve, his ancestors lived on the land and they were Aboriginal and so was he, so he was allowed to do welcome to country. We learnt about lots of different plants, tools and language groups. At the end we went on a scavenger hunt which was very fun and then we played on an amazing playground.

At Cranbourne gardens we learnt about different tools, languages and plants such as a spear launcher which made it easier for Aboriginals to throw the spear, things like ball launchers that people get for their dog/dogs are designed like the spear launcher.

Have you ever been to Cranbourne gardens?

Trip to the Nursing Home

Hi everyone,

This week on Wednesday we went to a nursing home.

We connected with a lot of elders by sharing our me bags that had one thing about me that wasn’t true. They had to try and guess which thing about me that wasn’t true and only one elder called Stan who got the fake thing about me right and he used to work in the Navy.

I had good chat with one of the residents there, her name is Merl. We talked how she goes for Carlton football club and how I did to(I am talking about Australian football) and how her dad was called Hector and I am called Hector.

What would you put in a me bag if you had to make one?

Perimeters

Hi everyone,

Over the last few weeks, we have been learning about perimeter. I have created a lot of shapes with different perimeters to answer challenges that we had in class.

I learnt that you can make a rectangles perimeter and odd number. All you have to do is do decimals. The perimeter is the measurement of the border of a shape.

How many times have you had to measure the perimeter of something?

Place Value

Throughout the term we have been learning all about place value. Here is a video about all I know about place value….

What do you know about Place Value?

My Avatar

An avatar is an icon or figure that represents someone’s image.

It’s very important to use an avatar because it gives the reader a slight picture of what you might look like and it’s not giving somebody a picture of you that somebody can use to hack into your devices or discover private information about you that can lead them to you or create a fake Instagram, Facebook or Twitter account that looks like it’s you who made the account and you get in trouble for a post that you didn’t do.

I made my hair this way because I couldn’t find one that looks like me and it was the closest one to me. I made my eyes this way because part of my eyes are olive green and part are hazel. The reason why I made my head shaped this way because I wasn’t sure what my head was shaped so I just chose my head from the shape my family said it was.

If you could make an avatar what would be one of its distinct features?
